Genius Time 

 Dear Parents/carers,  

 

For Genius Time this half term in Dragonfly class and Butterfly class your child will be decorating a box. Please could you send your child in with a box the size of a shoebox and any items they would like to decorate their box. If you have more than one box and are happy to send in another box for another child in the class to use in case, they do not have one, that would be greatly appreciated. They will keep this box at school for Spring 1.

Hook Day - Brilliant Britain

   

Dear Parents/Carers,

This half term, as part of our new Topic ‘Brilliant Britain,’ we will be having a hook day on Friday 10^th January all about Britain. For this day, we would like to invite your child to dress up in the colours of the flag of the country they feel most represents them. This could be a country they live in, a country they were born in or a country that a family member comes from. We would also like your child to come to school with a fun fact to share with the class.

We look forward to seeing their costumes!

Anti - Bullying week is 11th - 15th November

We will be recognising Anti-Bullying Week on Tuesday 12th November 

Children are invited to come to school wearing odd socks on this day if they would like to.  We wear odd socks to celebrate our uniqueness, challenge stereotypes, and promote acceptance.

Children will be participating in activities on the day which discuss bullying and what they can do if they need help. 

 

Year 2 Paren Forum 2024-2025

Black History Month

Throughout the year there are months that celebrate the history of different groups of people. These months help us to learn more about people, their history and their importance to the wider world. Black History Month is celebrated each year in October. It is a chance to celebrate the achievements of black people past and present.

Children will be taking part in activities this month.

World Mental Health Day

Thursday 10th October is World Mental Health Day.  To raise awareness of the importance of good mental health, schools across the country are inviting the children to wear a yellow accessory to school for the day if they would like to. Yellow is a colour that symbolises hope, optimism and happiness. 

 In class, children will be taking part in an activity to discuss mental health. 

Children must still be in full uniform but can also wear something yellow such as:

Yellow socks

Yellow badge 

Yellow ribbon

Yellow hat

Yellow hair accessory 

Or any other yellow accessory you can think of!

Children do NOT need to bring in any money or donations and the yellow accessory is voluntary. 

From Monday 23^rd September, the children will enter their class via the astro turf (playground). They will walk down the ramp, across the astro turf and around the side of the year 1 classes and enter via the Year 2 door. The children are being reminded about this entrance today as they will be using it for playtimes and at the end of the day. SLT will support children to get in safely.
