Data Protection
The school is aware of their responsibilities under the latest Data Protection Act in England, including those imposed under UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR). The school believes that protecting the data it holds about its children is a fundamental part of its safeguarding process and treats it with as much importance as protecting the child themselves.
All staff understand the need to protect the privacy of the children in their care as well as the legal requirements that exist to ensure that information relating to the child is handled in a way to ensure confidentiality. Parents and carers are given access to all records about their child provided that no relevant exemptions (information which could cause harm to the child or any other individual) apply to their disclosure under the DPA.
UK GDPR imposes more stringent requirements on entities that deal with people’s personal data. In the school, this applies to all personally identifiable information held on staff, children and parents. The school is fully committed to ensuring that it upholds the rights granted to a person under UK GDPR. A Data Protection Officer (DPO) has been appointed to the Trust, as required under this regulation.
Our data protection policies and privacy notices can be found on our policies page, here.
